Vinyl acetate appears as a clear colorless liquidwith a sweet, fruity smell. It is very flammable and may be ignited by heat, sparks, or flames. Vapors are heavier than air. Vapors irritate the eyes and respiratory system. May polymerize if heated or contaminated. If polymerization occurs inside a container, the container may violently rupture. Used to make adhesives, paints, and plastics.

Uses
1. Used in the production of polyvinyl alcohol, coatings, adhesives, etc.
2. It is the main raw material for manufacturing the synthetic fiber vinylon. Bromoacetaldehyde diethyl acetal is prepared by the reaction of vinyl acetate with ethanol and bromine, which is an intermediate for the pharmaceutical metronidazole.
3. Used in the synthesis of resin fibers, and also as an intermediate for oil pour-point depressants and thickeners, as well as an adhesive.
Safety,Security&Risk
The substance polymerizes under the action of heat and light, posing a risk of fire or explosion. It reacts violently with strong oxidizing agents, acids and alkalis.
